How can you disprove astrology?

Crazy Train asked:
Okay calling all you scientists and skeptics out there. What makes astrology a not real science? Have you ever wondered if maybe it does work but you don’t want to admit it? What are your opinions.

Bangie X ) says:
I’m sorry I don’t know how to answer your question in full, but it sounded interesting.
I think that is kind of a touchy subject. I am all for science, but I believe in astrology as well. It’s kinda like religion in a way. I myself am not religious, but astrology has the same run in with science, just not in such a big way.
Lucy S says:
Astrology is not a ‘real’ science because of the definition of science itself which is:-
’science refers to a system of acquiring knowledge based on scientific method, as well as to the organized body of knowledge gained through such research’
as a scientifically minded person, i believe in things only when they are proven, thats the base of science, to have a theory, and then prove it.
Astrology is never proven, so therefore is a faith, not a science.
aspiring troll says:
@ssholes who just want to go revolt.
odzookers says:
It’s amusing and lots of fun, but it’s not ANY kind of science. There are no sample criteria or control groups. No sort of experiments can be run to verify or disprove hypotheses. No variables can be changed, one by one, to repeat an experiment. No experiments can be replicated. Results are not quantifiable. Correlations cannot be established showing data that establish cause and effect in a quantifiable way. I’m a Taurus on the Gemini cusp, but Aquarius is my rising sign. My moon is in Scorpio. And yes,I have a complete chart. As I said,it’s lots of fun
relaxification says:
It’s not a matter of having to disprove it. It remains unproven.
If you can demonstrate that a particular reading is consistently correct I would be very, very surprised. Of course nobody has ever done this so science stopped paying attention a long time ago.
Make me Laugh says:
they can’t.
they do think it works, that is why they think its the devil work.
they just don’t want to predict their future.
