Question by daytoday: What is the line between religion and myth?
I’ve noticed that people never refer to Egyptian or Greek theology as “religion.” They’re always referred to as “mythology.” Now, I understand that a “myth” is a traditional story, whether it’s true or not. Therefore, wouldn’t Judaism, Christianity, Islam, or any other religion in the world also classify as “mythology?” Why is it that abandoned religions aren’t recognized as “religions?” And I want an answer to my question, please don’t preach to me. My religious beliefs have nothing to do with this question.
Sydeny: and what dictionary did you get these definitions from? I know what myth and religion are. But why do people group theologies as “myth” or “religion.”
